To celebrate, I'll give away a PDF copy of either of my Wild Rose releases or my Eternal press urban fantasy novella to a random commenter - just tell me what type of stories you like best and why. Is it the characters that draw you in irresistibly? The writing? The story line? And oh yeah, tell me which of my stories you'd like to read! Choose from:
Seventh Heaven or
The Duende and the Muse
Or my Eternal Press novella, One Soul for Sale.
As always, Cinderella Dreams (are tough to shake) is always free!
Anne Lamott said: "If you are writing the clearest, truest words you can find and doing the best you can to understand and communicate, this will shine on paper like its own little lighthouse. Lighthouses don't go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining."
Here's to a multitude of lighthouses! Shine on!

Hi, Cate! I definitely am drawn to characters in a deep POV format. I just read a romance with so much omniscient telling that I kept thinking what was the point in reading to the end after hearing at the close of a chapter "They were destined to be together." Heck, we know that going into a romance...
Toot! Toot! Happy Birthday! ~Skhye
Happy anniversary Cate.
I say write with passion. It will show in your writing. Put yourself in your characters' head and show us how they feel and act. I always have in mind Audrey Hepburn's song (actually Julie Andrews') in My Fair Lady: Show me, show me... Don't tell me with a lot of explanation. Show me and let me figure their feelings.
Thanks, Skhye! I love deep POV too. Makes me feel I'm in the story myself.
Thanks Mona! Couldn't live without passion! When I write, I feel what my characters feel, like an actor getting in the character's skin.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! My little blog's growing up (sniff sniff).
Happy first!!
I just love great stories of any kind. Sometimes you just need to read something to pull you out of a funk. Stoires always sem to do that for me.
I agree, Kathye! Stories are great escapes. Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Anniversary Cate!
Yup with books you can fly me to the moon! I try to write what my characters would actually say.
Best advise ever is to read it aloud.
Do you feel it then?
Thanks, Mary! I *should* read them aloud! They always play so vividly in my head, though!
Thanks for joining in the celebration!
Happy Birthday! My favorite types of stories are the ones with a first person POV. When I read a story I always picture a movie in my head so when the POV is first person than I become that person. I also like that in the first person you have one character's thoughts and views and aren't getting them confused with another character's. But I read anything. Nothing keeps me from trying a new author or genre.
Thanks again to everyone for joining in my blog's birthday bash.
I put your names in a bowl, and my daughter pulled out.... Kathye Quick! Congrats, Kathye! You have your choice of the three stories.
