The Goddess Connection

The Goddess Connection series
Every woman should embrace her inner goddess.
What’s your connection?

In each novel, the heroine is somehow connected to a goddess. Her lifelong quirks will become strengths once she finds her true place in the world, and accepts herself for who she really is.

Jocelyn Gibson's ancestor is Iris, goddess of the rainbow and messenger to the gods.

Iris is the daughter of the Titan Thaumas and the nymph Electra. She's portrayed as a beautiful maiden with wings and robes of bright colors, like the rainbow on which she travels. Iris carries a long staff and sometimes a pitcher containing water from the River Styx, which forms the boundary between Earth and The Underworld. Anyone who drinks water from the River Styx and does not speak the truth risks harms.

Beyond that, not much is known about Iris. No statues survive, though she is depicted on vases and bas relief.

Because Iris is seen as the goddess bridging Earth and the world beyond, she was the perfect goddess to launch The Goddess Connection series in The Magic of Lavender.

Lily MacInnis is the granddaughter of Persephone and Hades.
According to myth, Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, the brother of Zeus and ruler of The Underworld. Eventually, Persephone learned to love Hades and married him. She was bound to stay in The Underworld at least one third of the year, to the heartbreak of her mother, Demeter.

The fact that Persephone could love Hades, depicted as the epitome of evil, intrigued me. How could she love such a male? It meant that even the Prince of Darkness had to have some redeeming qualities, making him a challenge to write.

Likewise, it meant that Persephone had a dark side to herself that she explored and came to love as well. A multifaceted character, she fascinated me and I hope I did her justice.

Another link between this world and The Underworld, the goddess Persephone was a natural choice for the second book in The Goddess Connection series.

More goddesses soon...
Books 3 and 4 are on the way. I'm writing as fast as I can. :)
