Now the calendar's just one page

And the year's dwindled down to the last few days. For most, a time of both reflection, and looking ahead, when we stand at the edge of the old year and the uncharted new one. Some make resolutions, which to me seems nothing more than a wish list. Others have goals, which implies making a run at something.

This year, I'm going to plan.

Life thew me some curve balls at the beginning of this year, which I've briefly mentioned, but I don't  throw my problems into the ether for all to see. It may make me seem standoffish, but actually, I see it as being positive. I'm not going to dwell on the downside of it. Things happen for a reason, I believe, and for now, they are as they need to be. Sorry to be cryptic, but enough said.

But the loss of writing time really threw me. I did manage to finish some stories, and I'm happy about that. I have many more WIPs awaiting me, and I plan to tackle them as time allows.

I also plan to be more organized, not only with my time but in general. I wasted too much time this year because I wasn't.

I also plan to read some of the dozens of books I've accumulated. Literally, I have about fifty that I really want to read, and they're either loaded onto my Kindle or stuffed into the bookshelf beside my bed.

Most importantly, I plan to hold onto my dream. After waiting all my life to realize it, I'm not going to let it slip away.

What about you? Anything in mind for the coming year?

Good on you to plant your positive foot forward and work for your dream.

I've got my blog, my daughter and my writing going for me. Planning to really work at enhancing my experience with all three.

I'm always following what you're up to, Cate. I hope you have a very fruitful year in all ways.

I've got three books coming out in 2012 (January, April, maybe October), so lots of edit work coming up. I have a new book sort of plotted out that I'd like to at least get first draft and then some critiques. Maybe more will happen, but I sure haven't planned anything else yet.

I was going to mention something about planning but was mesmerized by the coffee picture at right which is decorated with a picture of a sun all done in cappuccino foam. Me likey.

Inspiring words, Cate. I need to be better organized, too. (Though, things are a bit "up in the air" right now, so it's pretty much one day at a time.) There are also a few basic resolutions that are essential.

Helps to have a plan! And keeping your problems to yourself isn't standoffish - it's just being private and not dumping on others.
Keep that attitude positive!

We are planning a Disney Cruise with the kids. We know we can pull this off. Hopefully pay cash in advance for the entire cruise.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

I with you on the planning, I want to accomplish some major stuff this year!

My Kindle has a few of yours, too, Marva. Can't wait to read them. Congrats on your upcoming releases! Planning one at a time sounds like a good strategy. :)

I liked that artistic coffee too, Michael. Author Chat's going away next year, replaced by my TBR blog. But I may have to use that image for something new. :)

If I could stick to resolutions, Tom, I'd make a few! Planning seems a more concrete method. Hope things settle down for you soon.

I'm going with the plan idea too rather than resolutions. I'm going to write it down(in pencil)and try to work it.
