Another blog visit, a blurbfest and news!

Wow, it's been a long time since I didn't have blog posts scheduled ahead, and a long time since I didn't feel pressured to post something. It's very freeing - I'm liking it. :)

On Sunday (it's live now! already Sunday Down Under), I'm going Western with amazing author Cassandra Dean. I hope y'all will mosey on by and say hey.

BlurbFest

This weekend, TBR's holding its first blurbfest of 2013 - any and all genres welcome. Come on over and share your book blurb!

News to Happy Dance To

Decadent Publishing contracted my paranormal novella, Cursed! It's extra exciting because I was invited to submit for the launch of their new line, Tease. I am so thrilled this story will be part of it!

Formerly The Vitruvian Man, it's now book 1 of the series by that name. I'm working on a follow-up, tentatively titled Charmed. It's set in contemporary Venice during the 10-day festival of Carnevale, where more goes on than meets the eye, mwahaha.

Here's the short blurb for Cursed:

Ten days of freedom. That’s all Fate had allotted me each year. In the streets of Venice, I could walk among them. Mingle. Belong.

During Carnevale, they had no idea who I was. What I was.

For ten days, it didn’t matter.

Until I met her.

Happy weekend! I hope to get some writing done on Charmed. What are you up to?

Reviews for Ground Rules

A perfect love story with a little hint of Christmas...
This was such a short, sweet, light-hearted story about finding love, even if you're not looking. Alice and Luke were both strong-willed and not easily intimidated. They had both been heartbroken and not looking to be hurt again. Ms. Masters took a simple love story and made it magical, drawing the reader into the world where angels can make your dreams come true. And the fact that Luke could make a mean margarita certainly didn't hurt, either. I'm a sucker for a Christmas story - throw in a hot angel on a Harley and we've got a party!
Luke is the Harley, hunky not-like-you’ve-seen-before Angel. Had his heart broken and doesn’t want to listen to his heart. In Ground Rules he shows Alice that others have worse circumstances.
I really enjoyed Ground Rules. It reminded me of It’s a Wonderful Life with a love twist. If you want a good book to get you into the spirit of Christmas and miracles I recommend Ground Rules.

Ms. Masters has written a wonderfully magical story that is refreshing to read. This creative story gives us a new take on the Christmas guardian angel. Complete with romance and snow.

 Halloween Blurb Fest at TBR

This weekend at TBR, writers of Halloween-themed stories are invited to share their blurbs in the first Halloween Blurb Fest! If you have a story about Halloween, or with a Halloween scene, I hope you'll share your blurb.

I still haven't come up with two themes for November - any suggestions?

Crime Fiction Blurb Fest at TBR

TBR's having two blurb fests again this month - first up this weekend is the Crime Fiction blurb fest for any stories involving - you guessed it - crime. :)

July 28-29 will be the Military/Espionage Fiction blurb fest.

If you know authors who write in these genres, please encourage them to share their blurbs, gain a little extra exposure, and hopefully some new fans.

Blog vacation

Not much is going on right now. Unless I receive a release date for my dark paranormal, Death is a Bitch, I likely will be taking a two-week blog vacation. I'm hoping to catch up on some writing, and some reading! Look for the next post on Saturday, July 28. Mark your calendar - it will be Halloween in July! Mwahahaha. :)

Do you have any getaway plans for the summer? Whatever you do, I hope you have a great time.

Another TBR blurb fest!

This weekend, I'm hosting a Women's Fiction Blurb Fest at TBR.

If you write women's fiction, please share your blurbs! If you know an author who writes women's fiction, please spread the word. And if you love to read women's fiction, I hope you'll find some new books to add to your TBR list!

Western blurb fest at TBR this weekend

All you Western writers, round up your blurbs! It's Western Blurb Fest weekend at TBR.

Lovers of Westerns, lasso a few great stories for your TBR list!

I'm trying to decide what type of blurb fest to have next month and in future months. I've been holding two each month, and so far have had:

Steampunk
Paranormal
Romance
Fantasy
SciFi (to date, the most popular!)
Mystery
and now Western.

Is there any genre you'd like to see for a blurb fest? Toss me some ideas!

If you love to write science fiction, post your blurb at TBR for this weekend's SciFi Blurb Fest! If you love to read scifi, come check out the great blurbs and maybe find a new-to-you author!

Paranormal BlurbFest today!

Do you love to read paranormal stories? Or write them? Either way, you shouldn't miss out on the Paranormal Blurb Fest at TBR today. See you there. :)

And if anyone's in the central Pennsylvania area, I hope you'll pop over to the Midtown Scholar Bookstore between 2:00 and 5:00 today and say hi. :)

Calling all fantasy authors!

Get your blurbs ready! TBR will launch a new feature this weekend - blurb fests. They'll take place twice a month, and target specific genres each time.

Fantasy is up first. Check TBR for information on how you can participate.

The next blurb fest, on Feb. 18, will be Romance, any and all subgenres. I know that makes for a very expanded list, but it seemed unfair not to have a Romance Blurb Fest, especially so close to Valentine's Day.

Here's a list of others that will follow:

Mystery

Horror

Historical

Paranormal

Steampunk

Western

General, open to all

If you're a fantasy author, I hope to see your blurb posted at TBR. And if you participate, please follow TBR.
Thanks!

Chaos in da house

Unfortunately, it rules my life these days, so it will be another slow blogging week.

I've been kicking around a few ideas to boost TBR, my new blog for readers to find great reads. First, it will be part of a Leap Day blog hop next month, and I'm giving away a few prizes, so stay tuned for that.

I'm also going to open up weekends for Blurb Fests. To make it easy for readers to find genres they like, the Blurb Fests will be targeted to one specific genre at a time. It may be once a month, maybe twice. I've begun to compile lists of genres, and so far have:

Mystery

Horror

Historical

Paranormal

Steampunk

Western

Romance

General, open to all

Any other genres you'd like to see, as a reader?

How would the Blurb Fest work? Well, thanks for asking! :)

Once I post the accompanying graphic in the post section, authors would paste their blurbs (just blurbs, no excerpts) from their books in the comments section, and provide a link for readers to find more information about it.

Kind of a self-serve, free for all, post. Easy for authors, and easy on me. :)

I'm hoping to garner more followers for TBR that way too.

So what do you think? Would you participate in a Blurb Fest on TBR? Any suggestions? Thoughts? Questions? As always, I'd love to hear 'em!
